1988 – 1990

Black Forest Racing:  Fabrication and engine building, Sportscar racing apprenticeship.  Primarily Porsche powered production based

 

1990 – 2001

Auto Sports South:  As owner and operator.  Customer based Sportscar racing at various levels.  SCCA GT, and Production class championships.  IMSA, Grand Am, Professional Sportscar Racing, Speedvision Cup, and Motorola Cup participation.  Auto Sports South was a complete in house research and development facility.  With engine dynamometer, chassis roll dynamometer, machine shop services, etc..  Also complete race car fabrication from tubular space frame construction, to production based race car construction.

Highlights:

·        1990 – 1994: SCCA GT2, GT3, and E-production regional and divisional championships

·        1995 – 1999: entries in the Rolex 24 hours at Daytona, entries in the 12 hours of Sebring, and entries in the “Le Petit Lemans” (Road Atlanta)  Several top 10 finishes.  Sponsors included “Olive Garden Restaurants”, “Nextel Communications” Etc..

·        1999 – 2000 Several Historic Sportscar Racing championships in both 2.0 liter and 3.0 liter categories.

·        1999 entry in the 24 hours (Longest Night) of Moroso.  Scoring an overall victory.

·        1998 – 1999 Motorola cup series.  For Honda of America racing the Acura Integra Type R.  1999 was a spectacular season with 7 outright victories in 10 races in North America and Canada.  This season was topped with the prestigious “Triple Crown” which is accomplished by winning the Drivers, Team, and Manufacturers championships in one season.  Louis was also awarded “Crew Chief of the year” by the Motorola Cup promoters.

·        2000 Auto Sport South was the first private team in North America to obtain and race the new Audi S4 2.7 Twin Turbo.  Auto Sport South was also the first team in the world to score an outright victory with this new Audi.

·        2000 Auto Sport South Partners Kevin Wheeler and Louis Milone started doing sub-contractor work for Champion Racing on the new SCCA SpeedVision World Challenge GT Audi RS4 Program.

 

2001 – Present

Champion Racing: Hired on in January of 2001 to assist with the newest Audi RS4 World Challenge GT program for North America (a factory funded program).  Champion Racing is a Factory Supported “Werks” team for Audi Sport Germany.

Highlights:

·        2001 As Team Director, and Crew Chief, World Challenge Speedvision GT Audi RS4’s Scoring 4 wins in 10 races, securing the Drivers championship for Michael Galati and the Manufacturers Championship for Audi North America.

·        2002 As Team Director, and Crew Chief, World Challenge Speedvision GT Audi RS4’s Scoring 3 wins in 10 races, securing the Drivers Championship again for Michael Galati.

·        2003 As Team Director, and Crew Chief, Directed the in-house development and construction of the all new RS6 World Challenge Speed GT cars for Audi North America.  Securing 2 wins in 10 races, and capturing again, both the Drivers and the Manufacturers Championship for Randy Pobst and Audi.  2003 came with heavy factory competition from BMW of America.

·        2004 As Team Director, and Crew Chief, Continue with the Audi RS6 securing 4 wins in 10 races, securing the Manufacturers Championship for Audi.  This season brought on very close competition from General Motors with the introduction of the new Cadillac CTS-V.

·        2005 Promoted to #1 mechanic and Crew Chief for the Champion Audi R8 Sports Car program.  In 2005 Champion Racing won 9 races, not including an overall victory in the 24 Hours of Lemans, in France.  Car #1 with Audi Factory Drivers Frank Biela, and Emanuele Pirro, secured the Drivers championship.

·        2006 Champion Audi was elected a Factory “werks” team.  This is the first time that an American based team has ever had this honor.  Competed in the IMSA series with 2 Factory Audi R10 TDI Diesel powered sportscars, securing 7 overall victories, and the drivers and Manufacturers Championships for Audi.

·        2007 Promoted to “Assistant Engineer” In addition to Management and Team duties, now directly involved with the on track Engineering side.  Champion Racing again Campaigned 2 Audi R10 TDI Diesel powered sportscars in the IMSA championship, scoring 3 overall victories, and 11 class victories.

 

In 2007 Louis was introduced to Watercraft racing.  With the combined resources of friends and colleagues, a team was formed, and history is being forged.  In this short period of time, working around a demanding professional auto racing schedule, Team Mean Racing, has already set its place in the record books.  With a Nationals Championship in Pro Am Stock 1200 Runabout with Rider Allen Walker on a TMR owned and operated Seadoo XPL, and many regional and national wins with riders Susan Anderson, and Christine Milone in Women’s Limited 1200 Runabout, With Christine Scoring a 2nd place in just her first trip to the National Championship round in Nashville Tennessee, we look to the future with high hopes.  The Team continues to grow, with the addition of David Cabrera, Lee Smith, and Jeremy Schandlemayer for 2008.
